Trevor Dickerson

Independent for Congressional District 6

“Who are you, why are you running, and what are your values?”

My name is Trevor, I’m a 30 year old construction worker, and I’m fed up.

I’m running for Congress because I believe an elected representative should represent the needs of their constituents, not the needs of their wealthy donors and lobbyists.

To some, that may sound idealistic, maybe even naïve - especially in an era where money speaks louder than the voices of everyday people. But that’s exactly what’s broken. The grip of special interests and dark money has twisted our political system into something unrecognizable. Laws aren’t written with us in mind anymore - they’re written in back rooms, influenced by checkbooks, not by citizens for citizens. Meanwhile, it's hardworking Americans who are paying the price. We’re the ones juggling multiple jobs just to keep the lights on. We’re the ones struggling to afford rent, raise our kids, care for aging parents - simply to survive, let alone get ahead. And while we stretch every dollar, career politicians keep getting richer, protecting their own power while the foundation of this country that was built on fairness, opportunity, and sacrifice begins to crack beneath us.

It’s not just unfair. It’s heartbreaking. And it’s time to say enough.

These aren’t just my values, they’re American values and it’s time we fight to make them real again. I believe in:

  • Protecting life by making our communities safe and our economy fair. Where no one has to live in fear, or choose between affording food, housing, or healthcare.

  • Restoring liberty, not just as an idea, but as a lived reality. That means ending government overreach, confronting corruption, and returning power to the people it was meant to serve.

  • Making the pursuit of happiness more than a line in our founding documents. It should be a path we can all walk free of unnecessary barriers, political games, and rigged systems.

“Why are you running as an Independent?”

Like so many Americans, I’ve come to a painful realization: neither of the two major parties truly speaks for me anymore. The division has grown so deep, the rhetoric so extreme, that we've lost our way. The everyday concerns of working families - the things that matter most - have been buried by partisan battles and political theater. Washington has become a place of noise and inaction, while people across this country are left waiting for change that never comes.

I’m running as an Independent because I believe the time is long overdue for candidates not bound by party agendas or beholden to powerful donors. I’m guided by the issues that touch real lives, not talking points, and most certainly not lobbyists. This isn’t just a campaign. It’s a challenge to a broken system that too many politicians have grown far too comfortable with. It’s a call to remember who our government is supposed to serve: the people.

I’ve never backed down from a challenge and won’t start now. This a fight worth fighting, both for our futures as Americans and our future as a nation.
